Journals and Black Swallowtails

Journals and Black Swallowtails

Volume 23 Issue 6, June 2026  What's New in June Here we are halfway through the year, and for you long-time followers, it’s once again hurricane season. According to the weather report, we might have our first disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico starting this week. Like all things weather related in Florida, all bets are off as to what it’s going to do. While I wait for the rain that should come soon, I have been working in the garden and have a new batch of  black swallowtail caterpillars munching on the parsley I put out just for them....

Lighthouses and Garden Stickers

Lighthouses and Garden Stickers

Volume 23 Issue 5, May 2026  What's New in May  We’ve taken stock of the flowers and plants that didn’t survive the freeze, and it looks like most of our plants are going to be fine. We did have to cut them down to the base, so they could regrow, which is sad for my 15-foot jatropha. Volume 23 Issue 3, March 2026   What's New in March As we’ve continued to have cold weather—for us, anyway—, it’s been easy to snuggle down and forget about spring. However, spring is on its way, and my flowers are all struggling to repair themselves from hours of freeze that did some damage to them. Since I’ve been told to wait until after mid-March to do any trimming, I’ve been impatiently waiting to buy new flowers. I usually have at least four hanging baskets of purple petunias, but now, I am glad I didn’t buy them when I saw them...

Funny, Snarky, or Sweet? Choosing the Right Card Tone

Funny, Snarky, or Sweet? Choosing the Right Card Tone

You’ve found the perfect card aisle moment. You’re standing there thinking… Do I go funny?Do I go a little snarky?Or do I pull at the heartstrings? Choosing the right card tone can feel weirdly high-stakes. After all, you’re not just picking paper. You’re picking a vibe. And the right tone makes the difference between “Wow, you get me” and “Oh… thanks?” At Blue Morning Expressions, I believe the tone matters just as much as the artwork. So let’s break it down. When to Go Funny Funny cards are safe, joyful, and almost always appreciated. If the recipient loves to laugh,...
