Volume 23 Issue 7, July 2026  What's New in July As it heats up this summer, we’re headed indoors and focusing on keeping all of our flowers, butterflies, birds, and even weeds from drying out in the summer sun. It has been quite warm already for the early morning hours, so I can only imagine how hot it’s going to be once we roll into August! Volume 23 Issue 6, June 2026  What's New in June Here we are halfway through the year, and for you long-time followers, it’s once again hurricane season. According to the weather report, we might have our first disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico starting this week. Like all things weather related in Florida, all bets are off as to what it’s going to do. While I wait for the rain that should come soon, I have been working in the garden and have a new batch of  black swallowtail caterpillars munching on the parsley I put out just for them....

Volume 23 Issue 5, May 2026  What's New in May  We’ve taken stock of the flowers and plants that didn’t survive the freeze, and it looks like most of our plants are going to be fine. We did have to cut them down to the base, so they could regrow, which is sad for my 15-foot jatropha. Hey, at least it’s still with us and the butterflies have moved onto some of the dozens of plants that I put in to replace all of the dead flowers.
