Spring Flowers and Garden Flags

Volume 23 Issue 3, March 2026

What's New in March

As we’ve continued to have cold weather—for us, anyway—, it’s been easy to snuggle down and forget about spring. However, spring is on its way, and my flowers are all struggling to repair themselves from hours of freeze that did some damage to them. Since I’ve been told to wait until after mid-March to do any trimming, I’ve been impatiently waiting to buy new flowers. I usually have at least four hanging baskets of purple petunias, but now, I am glad I didn’t buy them when I saw them in January. They would not have made it, and now, I don’t know what I will need to replace. What I do know, is that the old mums I’ve had in three baskets are now 3 years old, and they are blooming like crazy. Also, I had a basket of spring flowers that I bought last year with the knowledge that they would not come back, coming back because of the freeze. That means I might see new tulips, daffodils, crocus, and mini-hyacinths for the first time in Florida for me.

Enough about all of my freeze woes. The butterflies are back with some black swallowtails checking out the ragged old parsley and dill for a safe place to lay eggs someday. A danaus chrysippus was bouncing through the dead plants on the front yard, and I saw a gulf fritalary was eyeing my struggling passionflowers. They haven't recovered from the last time these little butterflies laid a million eggs on them.

This is last year’s bucket of flowers that are now making a reappearance.

 What’s New

Greeting Cards: Because I am working on some local projects, I created over 30 birthday and thank you type cards with a bakery theme. Also, there are 30 Florida-centric postcards.

Garden Flags: So many new garden flags are now in the shop. I have been having a lot of fun creating different themes for these flags, and not always as garden entrances.

Writer's Mugs: So many new mugs for writers are now in the shop as I work back toward my main focus for writers.

Until next month,

Julie

Things to Look Forward To:

New Products:

Journals: I have many plans for different journals with prompts, so keep an eye out for those journals. I will be doing my own binding on many of them, so I am trying to learn the machine and printing techniques.

Notepads: I am working out the bugs on little notepads and sticky notes. I have a lot of ideas and my test products are working well, so soon!

Bookmarks: I have some test product bookmarks that I am in love with, so you'll see them soon.
